The sixth grade is currently selling Valentine's Day carnations. Proceeds benefit Heifer International. Heifer helps impoverished families worldwide become more self-reliant through the gift of livestock and training in their care.
The fourth grade participated in "Dimes for Dreams," an initiative to raise awareness and funds for under-privileged children in the Dominican Republic.
The Pre-Kindergarten class collects pennies for Brookland's Ronald McDonald House. The McDonald House offers a home-away-from-home for seriously ill children and their families. The houses are a haven for families who live too far away from the hospital to go home each night.
The third grade collected blankets this winter to benefit Martha's Table. Martha’s Table’s mission is to serve the needs of the less fortunate in the Washington, DC community through food, learning, healthy living, recreational and family support services.
The seventh grade sponsored a very successful Thanksgiving and Lenten can food drive. All proceeds benefited the parish's St. Vincent DePaul food pantry. Cans were collected daily for one week and class goals/ percentages were graphed and distributed daily.
In the fall, the sixth grade sponsored the annual mini-walk for the homeless. Students raised over $2,000 which was later enhanced by an additional gift from Fannie Mae. Mary House is an organization that provides transitional housing services, shelter and support programs to homeless and struggling families.
The Kindergarten collected hygiene items to benefit Rachael's Women Center. The Center provides homeless and formerly homeless women with opportunities to develop their independence, sense of self and hope by providing safety, shelter, food, showers and laundry in a nurturing, homelike environment.
