Each family is required to serve a minimum of (20) hours during the school year. Please click on the link at the right to get more information regarding Child Protection Policy. All parents are required to complete the two hour Virtus Training.
Also, all parents/guardians who will chaperone a fieldtrip, tutor, prepare hot lunch, work in before/aftercare will need to be fingerprinted through the Archdiocese of Washington at the central office. The cost of this procedure is $36.00. Please contact the school office for more information.
Parents who complete the fingerprinting will be credited with 4 hours of service.
Opportunities are listed below. A cash fee of $15 may be substituted for each service hour not performed. Why not get involved early!
Service Opportunities:
- Are you available at 7:45am for twenty minutes or at 3:30pm for 20 minutes? Volunteer crossing guards are needed before and after school, especially at the corner of 12th and Lawrence Streets, NE. Individuals are also needed in front of the school to assist parents in dropping off their child. This area can easily get congested. With your help we can make these transitions smoother and safer.
- Is beautification/maintenance your thing? If you're interested in painting, light cleaning, landscaping, etc... then we have morning and evening jobs ready for you. Your TLC will go a long way in improving our school.
- Interested in moderating a club or an after-school activity? Our students are talented and love getting involved. Consider starting a book club or a cooking club. The chess club is also looking for a new moderator. What's your passion? Why not share it?
- Do you need evening hours? Have a phone? Individuals are needed to call alumni in an attempt to update the alumni database and also parents for upcoming events.
- How are your computer skills? Individuals are needed to enhance and update the school website. Bring your willingness to learn and creative ideas.
- Interested in making "Save the Dates" for upcoming events. Individuals are needed to design flyers. We are seeking creative individuals who have access to the necessary resources.
- Office Help - answering phones, photo-copying, filing, etc.
- Are you available on Friday mornings? Individuals are need to help stuff the Friday folders.
- Love Sports? Consider helping out with our CYO athletics program.
- Chaperoning - see your child's teacher for upcoming trips (maybe even share an idea with the teacher).
- Home and School events - see a H&SA representative. There are opportunities throughout the year such as the Honor Roll ice cream social held at the end of each quarter.
- Hot Lunch - sign up to help Ms. Brown prepare hot lunch. Look for the flyer in your child's Friday folder.
- Share your fundraising ideas, advertisement ideas, and alumni relations ideas and help MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
- Help track service hours.
- Do you know your child's classroom service project? Each class sponsors a service project. Contact the teacher to inquire how you may be of assistance.
